British-Nigerian actress Laura Lake Adebisi has stated that Nigeria should never have been formed as a country.
She cited the significant ideological differences between the North and South as justification for this.
In a trending video, the actress also criticized the British government, accusing them of enabling the Nigerian government to prevent Biafra’s secession in order to continue exploiting the nation.
Adebisi stated, “The footprints of colonialism are over Nigeria. Nigeria should have never been a country! The difference in ideology from the northern side to the southern side is insane.
“When the Eastern side tried to secede and form Biafra, the ex-colonialists [Britain] were like, no, we don’t want that. So they instead empower Nigeria to crush that country.
“They wanted to keep Nigeria as it was so they could continue exploiting its resources.”
“The legacy of colonialism is still deeply ingrained in Nigeria. It’s reflected in the country’s shape and even on the map.”
