Afrobeats singer Omah Lay has opened up on his major challenges in the music industry.

The ‘Boy Alone’ crooner said he doesn’t feel loved especially by the media and the music industry gatekeepers.

In an interview with Amazon Music, Omah Lay explained that to escape from what he described as a ‘sad reality’, he lives in a fantasy world most of the time.

“I have my fans, family and team but I don’t feel loved especially by the media and the people that call themselves the gatekeepers,” he said.

“This is something I’ve never talked about. I’m that artist that lives in a fantasy world. I just live in my head 90 per cent of the time.”

Omah Lay also mentioned that traveling as a Nigerian with a Nigerian passport is difficult.

He shared, “Traveling, especially with a Nigerian passport, has exposed me to a lot of the world’s cruelty.

“Immigration officers often mistreat me when they see my Nigerian passport, but their attitude changes once they recognize that I’m Omah Lay.”
