Singer Shallipopi urged his fellow artists to charge based on their worth.
He made this remark while discussing the ongoing debate about the high fees Nigerian artists demand.
In an interview with News Central TV, the singer emphasized that an artist’s value is tied to the impact and popularity of their music.
He refuted claims that Nigerian artists have priced themselves out of the local market, stressing that artists with similar streaming numbers as their American counterparts should charge equivalent fees.
“It all depends on how far your music has reached, and that will determine your price.
“If your music has achieved the same streaming levels as an American artist, you should charge like they do. But if it hasn’t, you can’t overcharge,” he explained.
