Asake is the First African Artist to Reach the top of the Global Spotify Debut Chart

Nigerian artist Ololade Ahmed, widely known as Asake, has made history by becoming the first African musician to top the global Spotify debut chart.

He achieved this milestone with his recently released third studio album, ‘Lungu Boy,’ which reached the number one spot on the chart.

The 15-track album, featuring collaborations with Wizkid, Travis Scott, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilla, set a record for the highest number of first-day streams for an African album on Spotify.

The album achieved 9.42 million streams on the Global Spotify Chart on its first day.

Among its notable tracks, ‘MMS’ featuring Wizkid set a record for the highest first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria, reaching 870,000 streams.
