A well-known Nigerian singer David Adeleke, also known as Davido, has stated that his celebrity status earns him special treatment globally.
The Afrobeats star asserted that he is invited to presidential dinners in every country he visits, with the exception of the United States and the United Kingdom.
In a recent interview with Kiss Fresh London, Davido proudly claimed that his fanbase includes the president of the World Bank, as well as presidents of influential countries and other prominent individuals.
He said, “In every country we visit, the president invites us to dinner, except in London [United Kingdom] and the United States.”
It’s wonderful to witness. Leaving my country, Nigeria, and being welcomed like a president in other nations demonstrates how well Nigeria is thriving globally in terms of music and cultural influence,” he remarked.
Davido stated that he is most respected in Africa, emphasizing that this is why he prefers his African tours over those in Europe and America, even though he earns more money in the Western world.
He mentioned that his Jamaican counterpart, YG Marley, was astonished by the level of love his fans showed him during his recent visit to Nigeria for the video shoot of their collaborative hit “Awuke.”
