Governor Yusuf has Brightened the Lives of 2,000 Retirees by Disbursing ₦5 Billion in Gratuity Payments

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has approved the third phase of a ₦5 billion payment to settle outstanding gratuities for 2,000 retirees.

This announcement was made during the payment launch at the Government House in Kano on Thursday, with the goal of addressing long-standing delays and offering relief to retirees awaiting their payments.

He emphasized the state’s commitment to pensioners’ welfare and promised to prioritize timely pension payments moving forward. This marks the third phase of the payments, following a previous ₦11 billion disbursement. Additionally, the government has raised the pension amount from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000.

In separate comments, Alhaji Habu Fagge, Chairman of the Pension Fund Trustees, and Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, Head of Service, referred to the event as a key moment in Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration, emphasizing the fulfillment of promises to retirees.

Mr. Godwin Abumisi, National President of the Union of Pensioners, also lauded the governor’s efforts to enhance the welfare of pensioners.

Abumisi, through his representative Assan Sambe, acknowledged that the pension review reflected the state’s appreciation for retirees’ services.

He also commended the governor for clearing the pension backlog. Garba Dakata, speaking on behalf of pensioners, expressed gratitude to the governor for addressing their long-standing benefits and improving their conditions.
