The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has confirmed the arrest of a teacher following the circulation of a video allegedly showing her physically abusing a three-year-old boy at a school in Ikorodu.
The viral video captures a female teacher slapping the child, identified as Abayomi Michael, in what seems to be an act of abuse.
The footage was shared on social media by a user named Oyindamola, using the handle #dammiedammie35.
In the post, Oyindamola identified the teacher as Stella Nwadigo and expressed serious concern about the incident, emphasizing the risks of such abuse in schools.
The video was shared with a caption stating, “This footage is from Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu, where a teacher, Stella Nwadigo, was seen mistreating and physically assaulting a three-year-old boy, Abayomi Michael.”
In response to the disturbing video, the DSVA released a statement on Wednesday, expressing gratitude to those who brought the incident to their attention.
The agency confirmed that the teacher had been apprehended by the Owutu Police Force Special Unit and assured the public that a comprehensive investigation was underway.
The agency also promised to maintain collaboration with stakeholders to enforce its zero-tolerance policy against abuse.
