The official trailer for the much-awaited movie Everybody Loves Jenifa, directed by Funke Akindele, has been unveiled.
No Nollywood Christmas is complete without Funke Akindele bringing her signature humor to the screen! Her upcoming film Everybody Loves Jenifa revolves around the beloved yet chaotic character Jenifa, brilliantly portrayed by Akindele herself.
Since the release of the 2008 hit Jenifa, the story has evolved into a full-fledged franchise. In 2011, Akindele reprised her role in the comedy sequel The Return of Jenifa. By 2015, she expanded the story into a widely acclaimed TV series, Jenifa’s Diary, produced under her company, Scene One Productions. The series became a household name, while Akindele continued to create and release other notable projects.
The award-winning filmmaker is set to take a trip down memory lane with the December release of her latest project, Everybody Loves Jenifa. This comedy-drama promises to deliver exciting nostalgia while expanding on the storyline established in the earlier installments of the franchise.
Scheduled to premiere in cinemas nationwide on December 13, the film promises a nostalgic, humor-filled experience. This follows the record-breaking success of Funke Akindele’s previous film, A Tribe Called Judah, which became the highest-grossing movie in the Nigerian film industry. Naturally, expectations are high for this new release.
The movie will feature the return of fan favorites such as Falz, Omotunde ‘Lolo’ Adebowale-David, and Olayode Juliana, alongside fresh additions to the cast, including Chimezie Imo, Layi Wasabi, Bisola Aiyeola, Jackie Appiah, and Omowunmi Dada.
