Alhaji Jafaru Makarfi, a highly regarded Islamic leader and former public servant, has passed away at the age of 93 in Kaduna.
The news was shared on Saturday night by Alhaji Suleman Abdulkadir, speaking on behalf of the family.
Abdulkadir, who also holds the title of Garkuwan Zazzau, confirmed that Makarfi was the Chairman of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Kaduna State.
Makarfi was a well-known figure in Nigeria’s Muslim community and had previously served as a Commissioner in the now-defunct Kaduna State.
The late Alhaji Jafaru Makarfi began his career with the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) in 1950, serving with distinction for over 40 years.
According to the statement, he was the first Northerner to serve as District Superintendent in the NRC’s Western District.
His funeral prayer is scheduled today 24/11/24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna.
