Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has reconciled with his brother, Aremu Afolayan, putting an end to their long-standing dispute.
According to a reporter, the two sons of the late legendary filmmaker and theatre icon Ade Love had been estranged for years.
Their conflict gained public attention in 2018 when Aremu alleged that their father lived in poverty despite his fame.
In response to Aremu’s comments during a viral interview, Kunle described Aremu as foolish.
However, the brothers reconciled during their mother’s wake-keep ceremony in Oyo State on Friday, 22/11/24.
At the event, Kunle stated that he was not just Aremu’s brother but also a father figure to him, highlighting that he was 10 years older.
Kunle told Aremu’s friends, “I am not just his brother but his father. I raised him and am 10 years older than him, but some of his female friends encourage him. However, love conquers all.”
Similarly, Aremu apologized to Kunle, saying, “My greatest joy today is that our mother made us talk. She never stopped praying because I was the black sheep of the family. Although I disagree with Kunle, and he has no excuse, people say we look alike.”
“I apologize for putting Kunle through the backlash on Instagram. It’s because I love you.”
