Biafra: Simon Ekpa has Been Arrested in Finland

Simon Ekpa, a Finnish-Nigerian separatist leader, has been arrested in Finland for alleged involvement in terrorism-related activities.

BBC Pidgin reports that Ekpa, who identifies as the Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, was detained by the Päijät-Häme District Court on charges of public incitement to commit crimes with terrorist intent.

The Sun also reported that Finland’s Central Criminal Police confirmed the arrest in a statement today 21/11/24, revealing that four individuals are being held on suspicion of terrorist offenses.

According to the police, the main suspect was detained on charges of “public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent,” while four others were arrested for “financing a terrorist crime.”

The police statement also noted that the charges would be presented in the Päijät-Häme District Court today November 21.

Simon Ekpa’s arrest follows widespread calls for his detention over his alleged role in enforcing the Sit-At-Home order, which has significantly disrupted economic activities in Nigeria’s Southeast region.
