The Kaduna State Police Command has reported the detention of five suspected kidnappers, a notorious car thief, and a spiritualist.
The command also confirmed the recovery of a stolen Toyota Hilux and other evidence from the suspects.
ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
He stated that three of the suspected kidnappers—Umar Haruna, Shuaibu Umar, and Hairatu Muntari, also known as Talatu—were apprehended during an operation in Kundun Village.
According to the PPRO, the operation’s main target was Haruna and the suspected gang leader, who remains at large.
Hassan further stated that investigations showed that the ransom money from previous kidnappings had been used to buy bags of maize, which were later recovered as evidence.
In a similar case, the spokesperson mentioned that on October 31, a resident of Agaji village reported that his 3-year-old daughter had gone missing and could not be located.
The following day, he received a call from an unknown person demanding a ransom of N2 million for her safe return.
The ransom was paid, and the child was released afterward.
After receiving the report, detectives from the Saminaka Division quickly began an investigation on November 3.
Through thorough tracking and intelligence gathering, the officers arrested the suspect, Isa Sa’adu, from Agaji village, on November 8.
During questioning, Sa’adu admitted to the kidnapping. The recovered items from the suspect included a Gionee mobile phone, N400,000, a Boxer motorcycle, a bicycle, and a bag of rice.
