President Bola Tinubu has ordered the postponement of the Federal Executive Council meeting, with a new date to be announced later.

This information was shared in a statement by Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday.

The meeting, originally set on 5/11/24, was delayed to honor the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, who passed away on Tuesday night.

The statement reads, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, has postponed the Federal Executive Council meeting to a later date, which will be announced soon.

Originally set for 5/11/24, the meeting was delayed to pay respect to Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, who died on Tuesday night.

“General Lagbaja held the position of Chief of Army Staff from June 19, 2023, until his passing on November 5, 2024.”

The President also directed that flags to be flown at half-mast across the country for seven days in honor of the late general.
