Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated on Sunday that the results of the Rivers State local government election signal the end of political intimidation and judicial manipulation.
He stated that this would allow for a genuine focus on governance to begin in the state. Atiku also commended Governor Sim Fubara for the results of the recent local government election in Rivers State.
Atiku remarked that the election results demonstrated Governor Fubara’s steadfast dedication to the people’s interests and the integrity of the local government elections.
In a statement signed by Atiku, he said, “With the completion of the local government election in Rivers State, the fears of political intimidation and judicial manipulation have faded, allowing for a genuine focus on governance to begin in the state.
“From the vibrant center of Port Harcourt to the peaceful shores of Onne, the people have expressed their views in unison, confirming that nothing surpasses democracy.”
As predicted, it has been disclosed that the people of Rivers are insightful and determined, steadfast in their rejection of political oppression, harassment, and the manipulations of self-interested leaders.
“I sincerely congratulate the newly elected local government officials and encourage them to prioritize the welfare of the citizens as their primary responsibility, avoiding tyranny and misguided ambitions in their political pursuits.
“Additionally, I commend the strong-willed citizens of Rivers State for their perseverance in the face of challenges, ensuring that yesterday’s election proceeded peacefully and with integrity.”
I must also commend Governor Fubara, @SimFubaraKSC, for his steadfast dedication to the people’s interests, protecting the integrity of the local government elections despite provocative challenges.
“In the broader context of this election, it is the people who truly come out on top, with their sacred right to select their leaders firmly maintained within our democratic framework.”
