President Bola Tinubu has encouraged for dialogue and an immediate cessation of the nationwide protests that have been ongoing since Thursday.
Tinubu stated that his administration is prepared to listen to and address the protesters’ concerns, and asserted that he has heard their demands “loud and clear.”
“I urge protesters and organizers to halt any further demonstrations and make room for dialogue, which I have always welcomed at any given opportunity,” he stated in a nationwide broadcast on Sunday morning regarding the #EndBadGovernance protests.
He emphasized that the country needs everyone to contribute and requires the efforts of all citizens, regardless of age, party affiliation, tribe, religion, or other differences, to put their hands together in reshaping its common destiny.
The 10-day planned protest, which started on Thursday and was mainly against the rising cost of living and hunger, escalated into violence, destruction of property, and loss of lives in many areas of the nation.
At least 17 people were reported dead during the “days of rage” protests.
