Don Jazzy, the CEO of Mavin Records, shared that he forbids his artists from releasing their music on the same day as Wizkid or Asake.
In a podcast with Fisayo Fosudo, Jazzy described such a move as potentially disastrous. He stated that Wizkid and Asake are two of the most successful artists in Nigeria’s streaming landscape.
Don Jazzy mentioned that Mavin Records is shifting their music release dates from the traditional Friday to Wednesdays and Thursdays.
This change is due to the fact that many artists, including big names like Wizkid and Asake, often release their music on Fridays.
To avoid their songs being overshadowed, Mavin Records will pick different days to release their music.
The label boasts a roster of stars such as Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Johnny Drille, and Lifesize Teddy.
