Manchester United are considering a deal to sign young striker Chido Obi-Martin after his schoolboy contract with Arsenal expired.

The 16-year-old toured United’s Carrington training facilities earlier this week, with the club in preliminary talks about a potential transfer.

Arsenal had presented what they believed to be a fair offer to Obi-Martin, who will initially sign a scholarship deal before transitioning to a professional contract when he turns 17 years old.

Ultimately, the forward chose to move on, with Manchester United among several interested clubs, though Manchester City is not among them.

Obi-Martin joined Arsenal from Danish team KB in 2022 and has been outstanding at age-group levels.

An international player for both England and Denmark at the junior level, he scored 10 goals in a 14-3 victory for Arsenal’s under-16s against Liverpool in November.

More recently, Obi-Martin scored four goals each against Crystal Palace and Fulham, five against West Ham United, and seven against Norwich City for the under-18s.

Overall, he netted 29 goals in 17 league matches for the under-18s.

Obi-Martin also participated in Denmark’s 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualification campaign, scoring twice in three group stage games.
